At Woodhaven, experiential learning is the cornerstone of our teaching philosophy. There are no workbooks or rote memorization at the school.
Instead the teacher uses play to introduce children to academic concepts. Children are encouraged to experience the world around them. Why just read about a woodpecker when you can watch one build its nest firsthand?
Each class is limited to 12 children to ensure individualized attention. With a teacher and parent helper in class, our child-to-adult ratio is 6-to-1. This intimate environment allows children the opportunity to develop strong, personal relationships with their teacher and fellow classmates. The teacher is able to work with children individually and accommodate their different learning styles.

Diversity is welcomed in our classroom and we invite families of all cultures to share their traditions and perspectives with the class community.
We have taught many preschool students learning English as a second language whose primary languages were Japanese, Korean, Danish, and Dutch. We enjoy learning what is universal about all cultures while celebrating the things that make us unique.
The teacher exposes children to different mediums of art and encourages hands-on exploration. Children are encouraged to experiment with art without regimented standards. The process of learning is emphasized over the end product.
